Fake news, industrial lobbyists, ignorant politicians and differences in opinion… At the end of the day it does not take a genius to recognize that we are collectively destroying our little planet. The evidence is overwhelming. Not only through the largely unmitigated pollution of our air, but through all manners of waste production. Yes, we are all guilty of this in some way; especially those of us who are fortunate enough to live in more "developed" areas of the world. And as we already know, the problem is only being compounded by the rapid growth of the human population; roughly 800 million additional people to feed, clothe and shelter… every 10 years!

We can and must do better.

What if we take action in response to these dire warnings, and they are inaccurate? What are the consequences? A cleaner, more sustainable planet for you and I, and our youth? Potentially millions of new jobs as a result of "green" new infrastructure?

What if we don't take action and the warnings are even moderately correct? What are the consequences? Environmental disasters of increasing intensity and regularity, widespread famine, hundreds of millions of refugees, or a world war the likes of which we've never seen before? What about the forecasted extinction of a million species? Perhaps even the very real possibility of human extinction..

Is it really worth the risk? Ignoring the thousands of scientists that are putting their reputations on the line for all of history, so we can avoid making any major sacrifices here and now?

As I learn more about our planet, and life, I am constantly amazed at how finely balanced everything is. Earth is a gift that must not be squandered. It needs to be cherished and preserved for future generations.

We have the resources and power to do what needs to be done, but it will take a significant shift in the ways that we do virtually everything. Sure, many of us try to do our part, but ultimately, our governments need to make the most profound decisions on our behalf; before it's too late.
